How to Regrow Pechay/Petchay (Bok Choy)
Planting your own vegetables in your garden or balcony will save you a lot rather than keep buying it in groceries. Buy organic vegetable in order to regrow it. One of the easiest vegetables to plant is pechay/petchay (Filipino term) which is one of my favorite vegetables. Let’s get started.
Steps:
Cut 2 inches at the stem from the roots which is the leftover that we usually throw away.
Place it to a container. Fill water about 1 inch. Change water every 2 days. Do this for 5 days. Place them indoor near the window with not direct sunlight.
Day 2
Day 4
After 5 days, you can start to transfer it to garden soil. In a pot, fill soil and make a hole using your finger and put one at each hole. (I used broken plastic drawer to plant my vegetables) Repeat procedure until you plant all. Place them in direct sunlight.
Spray water just enough to soften the soil and let the plant get used of the new environment on the soil.
For just a month, your petchay is fully grown and you can start cutting some leaves to use for cooking.
3 weeks old
Tips for cutting the leaves: get scissors or knife and pick only the outer leaves making the middle part continuously growing.
